Vergangenen Mittwoch gab der bekannte Tool- und Service-Anbieter Moz<\/a> bekannt<\/a>, dass man sich wieder auf das Kerngesch\u00e4ft SEO<\/strong> konzentrieren m\u00f6chte.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Was zuvor geschah:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"20-08-_2016_19-46-21\"Im Mai 2012 sammelte Rand Fishkin, Gr\u00fcnder & gern gesehener Speaker, satte 18 Millionen US$ Fremdkapital ein, um seine Firma auf das n\u00e4chste Level zu heben. Ein Jahr danach nannte sich dann die Company von SEOmoz in Moz um<\/a>. Damals hei\u00df es, man will sich breiter aufstellen, Inbound, Content, Social all‘ die neuen Disziplinen und Kan\u00e4le sollten zuk\u00fcnftig besser bedient werden. Der Zusatz „SEO“ schr\u00e4nkt dieses Wachstum ein, da die Aktivit\u00e4ten zu diesem Zeitpunkt bereits \u00fcber das Thema SEO hinausgingen. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt waren gut 130 Leute bei Moz. In 2013 stieg die Anzahl der Mitarbeiter auf 180, bei einem Jahresverlust von 5,7 Millionen Dollar<\/a><\/strong> und einem Jahresumsatz von knapp 30 Millionen Dollar. Erst im Januar 2016, bekam Moz, welche bis heute unter SEOmoz Inc. firmiert, 10 Millionen Dollar frisches Fremdkapital<\/a>. Demnach sind bislang knapp 30 Millionen Dollar in diesen Tool-Anbieter gepumpt worden. Und das, obwohl der Jahresabschluss 2015 einen Verlust von 3,1 Millionen<\/strong><\/a> bei 37 Millionen Umsatz \/ Jahr, davon allein 31 Millionen Dollar durch das Tool „Moz Pro<\/a>“ ergab. Anfang 2016 arbeiteten rund 190 Mitarbeiter im Unternehmen.<\/p>\n

Nach diesem Weg kam dann am 17.8.2016 die Nachricht<\/a> von Sarah Bird<\/a>, CEO:<\/strong><\/p>\n

„We\u2019re focusing our efforts on core SEO such as rank tracking, keyword research, local listings, duplicate management, on-page, crawl, and links. In the future, we\u2019ll no longer offer Moz Content or Followerwonk.<\/em>“<\/p>\n

Sarah schreibt weiter: „After a lot of analysis and soul searching, we decided to radically simplify our strategy to re-focus on what we love and what our customers value from us: search.<\/em>“ \u00fcbersetzt, die Strategie wird vereinfacht, man refokussiert sich wieder auf das was man selbst liebt und was die Kunden sch\u00e4tzen: Suche.<\/p>\n

10 Millionen frisches Kapital und dann eine Einschr\u00e4nkung auf SEO? Die Begr\u00fcndung lautet:
\n„Organic results still get 80% of the clicks and a fraction of the marketing spend. Further, with a phone in every pocket, mobile and local searches continue to grow. Organizations ignore search at their peril.<\/em>“ \u00fcbersetzt, bedeutet das, dass SEO rockt und w\u00e4chst und der Rest einpacken kann :) Im eCommerce sind es in DE gar 85% laut dieser aktuellen Studie von Olaf und Kollegen.<\/p>\n

Alles SEO oder was?
\n<\/strong>Nicht ganz – Moz selbst beschlie\u00dft zur Erreichung und Realisierung der neuen strategischen Ziele selbst mehr Geld in die Bereiche Produktmarketing, CRO<\/a> (Conversion Rate Optimierung) und Email Marketing<\/a> und nat\u00fcrlich in das eigene SEO zu investieren.<\/p>\n

Die Folgen f\u00fcr die Mitarbeiter:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Diese strategische R\u00fcckbesinnung auf das Wesentliche hatte jedoch auch zur Folge, dass 53 von 176 Mitarbeiter, Stand 16. August 2016, ihren Platz r\u00e4umen mussten – in den News<\/a> rund um diese Bekanntmachung<\/a>, spricht man vorwiegend vom Community-Team<\/a>, rund um Jennifer Sable Lopez, ehml. Sr. Director, Community & Audience Development, welches von der Entlassungswelle betroffen ist. Mit den Entlassungen reduziert sich Moz auf eine Teamst\u00e4rke von 123<\/strong> – das ist das Niveau von 2011<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Der SEO Toolmarkt in US:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Auch der US-Tool-Anbieter und Wettbewerber von Moz, Raventools<\/a>, welcher sich, neben Ahrefs<\/a> im November 2012 unter dem Druck von Google dazu entscheiden musste<\/a>, seinen SEO Toolbereich (Rank-Tracking, Keyword-Research etc.) einzustampfen, rudert nun zur\u00fcck und hat lt. dieser aktuellen Meldung<\/a> ein Viertel seiner Belegschaft entlassen, um sich wieder verst\u00e4rkt auf den Bereich der Suche zu konzentrieren.<\/p>\n
